First look at Cheers & Smith as Cityheart continues to drive forward its Stopford Park transformation
With Cheers & Smith, Cityheart are bringing a beloved 1909 landmark back to life and the new previews reveal how much of the building’s character will remain once completed. Filled with historic charm and modern design, visuals show how original features like parquet flooring, spacious classrooms and period details will be carefully restored to create a unique and inspiring setting for working.
Developed and operated by Cityheart, Cheers & Smith is designed to support the way people work today. The concept is built around two contrasting characters: Cheers, the collaborator and creative spark, and Smith, the focused planner who gets things done. These two characters have been at the forefront of the design process, with choices being made to suit both their needs. Open, social areas and kitchen hubs encourage connection and idea sharing, while quieter studios and meeting pods provide the setting for productivity and “deep work”. The result is a place where freelancers, startups and established businesses alike can work in a way that suits them best.
As work continues at pace on site, Stopford Park is quickly taking shape as one of Stockport town centre’s most exciting and ambitious regeneration projects. With 442 new homes and a vibrant new ‘Art Park’, Cheers & Smith will sit at the heart of a creative, mixed-use neighbourhood, built around community.
Cityheart’s approach to Cheers & Smith reflects its wider commitment to creating places that respond to real local needs. By combining workspace, homes and public realm, Stopford Park is being shaped as a destination where people can live, work and play, contributing to the continued resurgence of Stockport as one of the North West’s most dynamic towns.
Once complete, Cheers & Smith will offer a range of flexible options, from hot desks to fully serviced studios, alongside shared amenities designed to foster collaboration and community. The workspace is expected to open early 2027.
