Cityheart has partnered with Darlington Borough Council to deliver on its town centre development strategy. As lead development partner, Cityheart will deliver the town’s strategic development plan which will help to unlock the potential of this phenomenal Northern town creating new opportunities and new places to live and work within thriving communities. This is a huge opportunity for Darlington to maximise the impact of the new Darlington Economic Campus which will become a permanent base for 1500 civil servants across nine Government departments including HM Treasury.

Bank of England boss brands Darlington an “economic hub” describing the town as part of a “really encouraging” shift in how growth and opportunity are spreading across the North of England.

Seismic plans in the making to transform the future of Darlington’s town centre through strategic regeneration. This is about cementing Darlington’s position as a strategic economic hub and maximising opportunities for the whole community through sustainable development and placemaking.

Uniting the town through regeneration, four strategic sites will become a catalyst for Darlington’s economic growth and opportunity. New Grade A office space, over 200 sustainable homes and new sustainable transport infrastructure will feature alongside considerable investment into greenspace, biodiversity and public realm. Construction is expected to begin on phase one in 2027.
