In 2020, Wigan Council appointed Cityheart as its strategic development partner to breathe new life into the Galleries, the former shopping centre, a vast eight-acre site at the heart of Wigan town centre.

Fettlers is a new mixed-use masterplan which will breathe new life into Wigan town centre. It’s one of Greater Manchester’s most ambitious regeneration projects, delivering much-needed new homes, a Hampton by Hilton hotel, New Market Hall, leisure, co-work and retail facilities. Fettlers represents Wigan’s proud heritage and celebrates the town’s unique identity and bright future.
A place to warm your cockles and ignite your soul. Fettlers is possibly the most ambitious and important urban regeneration project being delivered in the Northwest of England. Getting this right will be a catalyst for growth, creating new, meaningful opportunities.
As master developer, Cityheart has the important role of assembling the right partners to deliver the varied and challenging moving parts that bring this project to life. Working closely in partnership with Wigan Council, Fettlers is turning the site from rubble to a vibrant new destination. Through its construction and delivery, Fettlers will be a catalyst for growth and opportunity, creating new opportunities and driving people into Wigan town centre, creating a thriving community and place once again.
