Cityheart is working with Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council to shape transformational new plans for Prescot shopping centre in the heart of the town centre. This complex regeneration project will involve the careful consolidation of an outdated shopping centre to make way for a new vibrant mix of uses and amenities which will contribute to the continued revitalisation of the town centre.  Prescot has a fantastic close-knit network of local business and is home to Shakespeare North Playhouse which attracts visitors from all across the UK.  It has bags of history and culture and huge potential. Cityheart and the Council are shaping plans with the needs of the community at the forefront and are about to begin consultation.

Out with the shopping trolleys, in with the tote bags. Cityheart and Knowsley are shaping plans for a vibrant new town centre with bags of life and character. New ideas, new opportunities and a new community in the heart of the town centre. A new place Prescot can be proud of. Public consultation will begin early 2026.

At the heart of the project

Prescot is a lively town in Merseyside with a strong sense of community and a rich history. Famous for its watchmaking in the 18th century, it also has deep connections to Shakespeare, and the town is home to the Shakespeare North Playhouse, celebrating its theatrical past.

Today, Prescot is easy to reach with direct trains to Liverpool and good road links, while new projects and local regeneration are helping the town grow and thrive, blending its historic charm with new opportunities.
